Mayor Purzycki and City Economic Development Director Jeff Flynn urge local business owners to apply for a new assistance program from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to help small businesses deal with the devastating effects of the coronavirus pandemic. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation is offering the Save Small Business Program, which provides $5,000 grants for businesses located in economically vulnerable communities with a staff size of between three and 20 employees.

The application process is simple, requiring only a business’s W-9 form. The Chamber Foundation predicts it will take just 10 minutes to complete. The application form is available now. More information and the link to apply can be found at: https://savesmallbusiness.com/

Grants will be awarded on a weekly basis, but businesses only need to apply once to be in the running. Businesses in the following Wilmington-area zip codes are eligible for consideration of a grant: 19801 / 19802 / 19804 / 19805 / 19806 / 19809

Mayor Purzycki added that DaWayne Sims, the City’s Small & Minority Business Development Manager, is ready to help businesses in accessing this new grant opportunity as well as any available federal or state assistance programs.  “We strongly recommend small business owners explore this important funding opportunity immediately,” said Mr. Sims. DaWayne can be reached at (302) 576-2127 (office), (302) 545-1812 (mobile), or via email at dsims@WilmingtonDE.gov.
